Robert Rauschenberg
b 1925 in Port Arthur, Texas (USA). He studied (1947–48) at the Kansas City Art Institute and at the Académie Julian, Paris, and then (1948–49) at Black Mountain College, North Carolina, under Josef Albers. Besides being known worldwide for his work with silkscreen collages which he began in 1962, he was one of the driving forces together with Billy Klüver of the theater and performances «9 evenings» (1966) and the foundation of the association Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.) in 1967. He lives on the island of Captiva, off the coast of Florida.
