«Pictures at an Exhibition»
Mounted on the wall are glass tablets with text amounting to a decalogue of prohibitions of idolism: «don’t look at me» – «don’t make a picture of me»– «don’t describe me» – «don’t judge me.» Gerz offsets the commands with the music of Mussorgsky’s «Pictures at an Exhibition,» which is playing on a tape recorder in the centre of the room.
