Eduardo Kac
«GFP K-9»
In his 1998 manifesto on Transgenic Art Eduardo Kac proposed to use Green Fluorescent Protein to create a fluorescent dog «GFP K-9» which he never actually realized. He intended to melt the DNA of a dog with the DNA-sequence of a gene that encodes the production of Green Fluorescent Protein. This gene can be extracted from a quail of the North Pacific (Aequorea victoria). It emits a green light when exposed to ultraviolet rays of a certain wavelength.
