«My Little Cabbage»
An early video work producing an ironical refraction of the French term of endearment ‘petit chou’ (‘little cabbage’, approx. ‘my dear’). By taking the phrase literally and draping her head in cabbage leaves, Ulrike Rosenbach casually turns the term on its head (or, indeed, her own), accompanied by the sound of a French chanson on the radio. Her strategy of refusal foils cheap clichés and stereotype images.
